Dental Veneers
When patients come to us because they are unhappy with their smiles, we are excited to share with them how cosmetic dentistry can improve the look of their smile. When you have a great smile, you want to show it. Smiling more can improve all aspects of your life!
Many patients approach us because they don’t like the way their teeth look. They might find themselves hiding their smile behind their hands or avoiding showing their smile altogether.
At Sunshine Smiles of Orange County, we offer several different cosmetic dentistry procedures to address most concerns our patients have about their smiles. But one of the most effective ways to improve a smile is with porcelain veneers.
Dental veneers can help correct a number of tooth concerns including:
- Crooked Teeth
- Misshapen Teeth or Tooth Size Discrepancies
- Tooth Gaps
- Worn Teeth
- Discolored Teeth
- Enamel Defects
- Shortened Teeth
What Are Porcelain Dental Veneers?
Porcelain veneers are special dental restorations that are placed over your teeth. They are thin, translucent covers that are bonded in place, dramatically improving the look of your smile. The number of veneers you need will depend on what we are correcting about your smile as well as its current size and shape.
With veneers, you can have a beautiful, straight smile that is also fully functional. Because veneers are so thin and translucent, they give your smile a completely natural look.
How Does the Dental Veneer Procedure Work?
The first step in the process is to prepare the teeth to make room for the veneers. This means some of the enamel will need to be polished from your teeth so the veneers bond completely with your natural teeth. This also helps ensure the end result does not look bulky.
Because there is preparation of your natural teeth involved, veneers are a permanent solution to dental concerns. Dr. Zaery and Dr. Kalantari will consult with you prior to the procedure to ensure you know what to expect and what you can look forward to in the end result. The entire process takes place over a couple of dental appointments as we ensure to perfect every detail, leaving you with a result that will WOW you!
Once your veneers are attached, we will make any needed adjustments—including checking your bite—to ensure they are both comfortable as well as functional.
How to Care for Dental Veneers
The best way to ensure your porcelain veneers last as long as possible is to take good care of your teeth. Floss and brush regularly, and be sure to go to the dentist twice each year for examinations and cleanings. Care for your veneers just as you would your natural teeth.
Keep in mind that although porcelain veneers are strong, you should not bite into anything that is not food. Don’t use your teeth to open a package or cut tape as this can damage them.
